Nancy ~ I ask about the yogurt thing every time I need to administer drugs and every vet at our clinic through the years has said the same thing....it's fine to give at mealtimes with the med. It doesn't disturb the med. What I give it for is to coat the stomach and, secondarily, to protect the intestines. Except for Danny with the metronidazole, it's worked fine for every dog...the meds worked and it kept down nausea and anything worse than just soft stools. The first time I used it was with my Akita Kiku when she proved to need it with Rimadyl as well as tramadol.
I always ask because I figure there might be more recent findings about the interaction.
And I always keep my fingers crossed with these two because they can't handle dairy. For a long time after I had problems with dairy, I could still eat yogurt. Then I needed Lactaid with my yogurt. Then even the Lactaid didn't help. I hope mentioning this didn't just jinx things.
If I gave a full-on probiotic instead of the yogurt (for serious intestinal need), I'd be asking about simultaneous administration...I presume that wouldn't be a good thing. I've never had to do that.
Happy to send a little mojo Danny's way, and of course, Sunnie gets some of her own, she doesn't have to share Danny's.
Mojo sent.
Sending lots of Mojo your way.
We've made it from last night's dinner to five hours after breakfast without apparent nausea...it's probably too soon to get too confident, huh? :amuse:

How is Danny doing this am. Hoping for a good report with NO vomiting.
He's doing fine. No vomiting and his poops are superlative. :image023:
Meanwhile, I just put Sunnie on Rimadyl...she's acting so differently from how she's been for a long time that I think this may be the start of continual administration. (I have an email into my vet to discuss.)
