Aww gee whiz, that's not nice and especially not on vacation. Hope it gets better with rest.

That really sucks! I hope just resting him does the trick and that he'll feel better soon.

How is he now? I was told that TTA leg is now the stronger leg and that we should only worry about the un operated leg. Also most of the time they also tear the meniscus. Maybe it is only a pulled muscle? I hope so!

Thanks all. The boy is doing much better now. No real limp now but I see a little shifting in his stance. He now stands solid on the back legs while drinking his water. I plan to rest him the next few days and see how it goes. I'm so happy he appears to be okay.

MyStellaDog ---- we were at the vet about a month or so ago and he was commenting on Samson showing his left (TTA) leg was his strong leg and his right was showing more signs of weakness in his stance. Last year when he did the drawer test at the time of the left knee tear, he said the right knee was loose. So...it's only a matter of time. When he called me back last week, he said "It's his left leg and not his right?" I said...YES! Samson hurting his left leg was not even a worry...I was so focused on the right I hadn't given a second thought to the TTA knee. After he explained how the hardware has no give, I understand how hurtful it must have been for Samson to slip on that leg and his knee not give any. Starting Saturday I'm taking Samson to swim therapy. 30 minutes of swim. I'm hoping that helps his right knee. I'm going to try and squeeze in a 2nd appointment during the week before I go to work. I really don't want him to have to go through another TTA.

Well, Samson had his x-rays yesterday. Poor boy hates the sedation. He is still off and whiney this morning.

Swelling inside the TTA knee. Potential meniscus tear. Complete rest for two weeks. No stairs, no swimming, no walks. Leashed potty breaks. Few years ago when this start doc told me he had mild dysplasia. New x-rays shows slight decline in hips. During consult before x-rays, Samson fought on right hip rotation but left seemed OK. And per x-rays, right is a little worse then left. Hips are not suspect right now as much so as the TTA knee and meniscus. Off to buy a new air mattress today because for the last two weeks the one we have been sleeping on is killing my body! lol Forgot what it was like to sleep on a queen size with Samson! Boy takes up room. Since Samson can't swim I'm keeping my Saturday appointments and taking Asher. Unlike Samson, Asher loves the water and I think it will be good for him.

Send good thoughts for Samson please. I really hate the idea of another surgery on that left knee. Oh, and a positive point- vet said his right knee feels strong and has improved since x-rays / drawer test last year in June!! Been working hard to get that one strong. Weakness display a few months ago could be right hip.

Oh rats! I hope the activity restrictions take care of the problem, brings down the swelling, and he'll be good to go.

I recently slept on an air mattress bed at a relative's house. My main finding was that I was freezing most of the night because there was no padding of any sort on top of the air bed so while I had covers piled on top of me, the airbed covered with only a sheet maintained ambient temperature, maybe 68-70 degrees so I was warm on top and cold on the bottom. Just a suggestion to put a quilt or mattress pad or something on that air bed before you make the bed with sheets. Plus it was probably a bit over-inflated so it was extra firm AND cold.

Thank you...I sure hope he's improves too.

Funny you mention the cold!!! I've been freezing the last few weeks. Just last night I pulled out the floor heater because I was tired of being cold. Made a big difference! When I first put it out, it was not inflated enough -- I could feel the floor! lol Then I over inflated it. I think right now the firmness is OK. But it's still so uncomfortable. I'm looking at a pillowtop style.
