Has arthritis set in? When Niner had elbow surgery the surgeon said he will get arthritis and it wasn't an "if" it was "when". So far at 5 1/2 he is fine, but if it's arthritis maybe adequan injections (Charlie does them as he has a slight limp on his left front leg). I believe it has helped. He also takes lubrisyn and Cosequin DS plus MSM.

Hope Chili won't require more surgery.

when chili had surgery on both elbows one was fine and other was "dirty" and got cleaned out....i went with his old hospital vs vet just in case/ease of insurance...his old surgeon isnt there anymore, so I bet bunch of tests/money gonna be spent.

Maybe not - if it's arthritis they can determine that from X-rays, but yes if it's something else big bucks. Hope it doesn't come to that.

having pet insurance to cover extra testing is pretty huge though, as crappy as this is at least the expensive is not a burden. Or i guess it depends how much they'll cover.

Fingers crossed for chili, hopefully something that doesn't require surgery.

I've heard a lot about galliprant, supposed to be much safer but also more expensive (but if covered by insurance, yay!) - we can't really get it here in Canada yet (it's around but vets having a hard time using it for non "in clinic" use even if they do get it).

when chili had surgery at 9 months or so, i went thru 3 different vets/billing.....made final insurance claim complicated...Im deciding to go thru hospital 1st as any/all bill easier to claim...

chili 1st surgery was hard to claim initial visits/tests...I hope all this limping can be fixed w/out insurance. but if many tests are needed, i feel its best to be done at same place.

the initial cost is huge tho, consult with ortho team at vet hospital is $150 vs a $60 vet visit....but I am betting xrays or other tests will be needed so Im deciding on hospital vs local vet.
