Two of mine are in chemo. It's true that they don't have the same issues. One is on Cerenia as needed but it's nothing like with people.

Take care and all good thoughts for you guys. Both of mine have been clear for a year. There's a lot to be said for cancer treatments these days.

Hello all.. another update for you... Toohey did really well after his first 3 chemo treatments... He would get his treatment on a Tuesday and then have a slightly down day due to the chemo on the following Thursday or Friday. After his 4th treatment he went into his typical slightly funk day that Friday, however this time he didn't come out of his funk. He wasn't eating much and was starting to have worse and worse diarrhea. We took him in yesterday for an ultrasound and his lymphoma had begun to progress again. My heart is broken that I haven't been able to do more for him, but this cancer is so aggressive that it pushed through while he was still receiving chemo. He's currently on a rescue protocol chemo treatment and prednisone. He started feeling better throughout the day yesterday so I was happy for that. However, the prognosis is that the rescue protocol will only hold him off for about a month and then the prednisone may be able to hold off the symptoms a short time longer.

Toohey turned 7 on the 11th of this month but it will be the last birthday that he sees. I'm thankful for the last month when he was feeling good again. We went on a fishing trip during which he jumped out of the boat to retrieve a trout when we got it close to the boat. We were able to get out in the Everglades a few more times for some really good duck hunts. He's feeling good at the moment and we're going to try to make the best of the time we have left.... I just wish we had more.

Thanks again for all of the support.

I'm happy to hear Toohey is having some good days. Sorry to hear the outlook is not better. It's heartbreaking. Just not fair. They have such shorter lives than we do so they should be spared from cancer. I hope you have many more good days ahead. Good wishes your way.

So young... I hope you and Toohey will enjoy quality time and that he just might prove the doctors wrong about how much time is left. It sounds like you're making the most of what he's able to do and enjoy.

I am glad you know exactly where you are going and the path you will take along the way. I am sorry it's this path, but not knowing is awfully hard. Lots of good thoughts and good times to you both, to treasure in your memories, when it's time.

I am so sorry to hear that chemo didn't work out. He is such a handsome boy. You'll be in my prayers.

What a beautiful boy.....I'm so very sorry that you are having to face this.....he's so young & it is so unfair, but then there isn't ever anything fair about cancer. Bless your heart for taking such great care of Toohey! He knows you love him! We will be here, whenever you need us, and I'm keeping you & your precious boy in my thoughts and prayers......
