I am so sorry. Whatever you decide to do, I'll keep my fingers crossed that he gets better soon and lead a happy puppy life.

Thank you. I've scheduled bilateral surgery for 4/12 (once we get back from our vacation). I am very hopeful since it's not severe that he will recover well and run and play without pain. I hope I'm making the right decision by doing the right leg now. I do see some favoring in that leg but it's not limping necessarily. when he jumps up on the couch or when he first stands...I see something.

For anyone else that may experience this in the future.... Here's a breakdown of costs so far. It's always challenging to find money associated with some of this stuff....I'm in Ohio.

    X-rays at my vet - 465
    Consult with Ortho - 145
    CT and x-ray - 1450
Quote for bilateral arthroscopic surgery - 4300-4500
12 week rehab with hydrotherapy included - 720

I’m sending great good wishes for successful surgery. Did you say you’re going to the OBX? Are you in a home with the reverse floor plan? Where we stay, more and more of the homes being renovated are getting elevators. The owners might be thinking of the benefits for renters, getting the grandparents into the house and bringing up the groceries. After a summer vacation when I carried Lark up and down the 28 steps to the top, I now think of them more for my dogs! Have a restful trip.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Yea, they have reverse floor plans. The house we stayed in November had an elevator - was wonderful except the owner did that last minute change to HW up on the main living area. This house does not have an elevator.....it's four floors up. Thankfully they are carpeted stairs or I wouldn't be able to stay in that house. For now, Asher's limp is minor so he doesn't struggle. I am now giving him rimadyl until he has surgery. We don't do a lot of in and out while vacationing and we have the master bedroom upstairs so we don't have to go up an down....just for outside breaks which are typically combined with our beach time. I love sitting out on the deck watching the waves and listening to the sounds. The boys equally enjoy. They love the beach walks too.

I'm sure hoping surgery is a success for this guy! I'm going into it very positive.

I think fragmented medial coronoid process is the same as fragmented coronoid process which is what our Maddy had. It was thought to be a genetic/hereditary issue due to it being bilateral. Like I think I mentioned, after surgery and years of supplements, she was a happy and active girl.

Ah man, i read your first update and was super hopeful it was nothing too serious.

Good luck with surgery and recovery, the decision was made with best intentions so it is the right one.
