I haven't seen that when my dogs have gotten it. Is this the first time she's gotten it?
Our yellow lab, Elanor, who is now 3 and one-half years old (female /spayed), received her Lyme vaccine today. (We live in Upstate NY where ticks are rampant and the proportion that are Lyme positive is very high. A mid-winter walk in the woods last February left us with more than 35 ticks crawling on us and Elanor, in total.)
Elanor has been lethargic today after her Lyme vaccine, favoring her right hind leg (injection site), and is definitely not herself. Very droopy in spirit, slow moving, and tentative in her movements around the house.
She shows no signs of swelling or other physical indications of a reaction. Have others witnessed this sort of thing in their dogs after a Lyme vaccine has been administered. (No other vaccines were administered today.)
Thank you!

She did receive the vaccine last year and we recall she was a bit slowed down. However, today she has seemed a bit more than that. Not especially worried, but wondering if others have seen something similar. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Not unusual, put a wrapped ice pack on the injection site for 10 minutes every 1/2 hour for a while. If she's still not herself tomorrow, give the vet a call. On the holistic side of it, a homeopathy called Thuja would reverse the side-effects.
Good luck with Elanor.
I've seen a bit of lethargy following shots, including the one for Lyme.
Did she get any other shots at the same time? That could easily make a reaction more likely.
And ditto what Black Labbies said...all of it.
A dog can have a reaction to any vaccine. I would definitely contact your Vet as soon as possible.
Probably wouldn’t hurt to call your vet just in case, but they always warn us that lethargy is possible following the shot. We haven’t particularly experienced it though.

Have not had to get the Lyme vac here but really appreciate the information.
Would definitely be calling the vet if for no other reason than to keep him updated.

There are, I think, now 3 different Lyme vaccines available. And they can cause joint pain as a side effect. I wouldn't hesitate to call the vet.
Any update? I hope she is fine now!!!
