    Eic

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has felt with EIC before... I have a three year old female and my vet and I are debating if it’s something she has or if the few episodes last summer were from the heat and due to not really being used to running around as much as she should.

Also, if anyone has good recommendations for a lab for genetic testing? GenSol Lab, and Vet DNA Center are two affordable ones I was looking at... any insight? EIC is the only test I’m looking at doing right now.

I've used GenSol... pretty easy to work with and fast results.

I also recommend PawPrint Genetics or using the lab at U of MN, who developed the test for EIC.

I used the lab at the U of MN. At the time they were the most reliable.

OFA accepts EIC results from GenSol. Not sure what type of vetting a lab must go through to be approved by OFA... But I used GenSol to confirm what I already "knew" (Clear by parentage) and results supported that.

    Thank you

Has anyone ever dealt with EIC before?
I’m just curious (we are going to test our girl anyway, and the new one coming will be tested) if what happened last summer to her, she collapsed/passed out after running a bit on a rather hot day, and a few other times that summer wobbled a bit on her back end. At that point we stop playing. She hasn’t done it since, and we’ve been doing lots of running and playing all winter and spring so far.. some days we play for 15-20 min chasing a frisbee up and down hills across the yard ect.
When I first mentioned it to the vet he was very much thinking EIC, then explaining it hasn’t happened since last summer he was wondering if it was heat related or not.. he wants us to test her regardless, but I don’t know much about EIC and didn’t know if it was more prone to happen in warm weather vs cooler weather...

Wonderful thank you! I’m thinking with two to test, and then having a $10 sale right now I may go with them..

EIC is genetic. If you are worried about it then you should check that the parents have been tested. You can guarantee your new pup will not have EIC if .... here, I'll put a link so you can read from it.
