You do have to check you are not getting counterfeit product. Some manufacturers post on their website what common knock off packages might look like. Even it is real product you might find you do not have the same guarantees on the product as if you purchased through a Vet. For instance if you had an adverse reaction or a failed result. It varies by product, by manufacturer and by state. As per Merial some years ago when I was asking about something I needed to buy and was worried about it coming from the U.S.

I ended up just getting all the meds from my vet. Easier, no hassle, no worries, can "take back" if there are issues. Some things are just not worth the time vs. money battle.
I buy Heartgard Plus from my vet. She has incentives from the manufacturer if I buy in bulk. I buy Sorresto collars elsewhere and try to buy them when I find a sale. I have two small dogs in addition to Lido, so cost is a concern.
