Hope Cooper is feeling better as the days go on.
Thanks... he is doing well. He isn’t limping or favouring that foot at all. He had his last dose of Metacam at supper time so we will know for sure tomorrow or Tuesday. The toe is still swollen (as compared to the other foot) but maybe it was always bigger!?!

So Cooper has started to favor and limp on the left front paw again, noticed over the last week or two. Initially I noticed that he would yelp if his left front paw was accidentally touched when someone walked passed him or if Dozer happened to step on it while close to Cooper or during play. He would yelp, limp for a short period of time, then would act as if nothing was wrong..for a few days and then the cycle would repeat. Yesterday, Cooper was in the living room by himself, I heard him yelp and then he started limping on his left front paw. He also will hold that paw in the air at times not wanting to put weight on it. He was quiet last evening, so I knew it was bothering him. He didn't want to walk up the stairs this morning, and continued to limp. I didn't want to go to work and leave him in pain, so I gave him the last dose of Metacam from when he initially had the paw pain. He is a different dog this evening...walking just fine and acting himself. I tried to have a look at the foot last evening, but he definitely didn't want me touching it... and I was home alone with no one to distract him to let me look. I am going to have a look this evening when my hubby gets home, seeing as the foot isn't as sore.... Any thought on what could be going on?
As I wrote on this thread back in June, Tanner had an infection (although not immediately diagnosed correctly) in his paw from a deck nail/splinter. The big difference with him and your dog is that he never got better, only progressively worse limping.
The other thought I had was a neck/spine injury that waxes and wanes. My dog Yukon injured his C spine and was in rough shape for a while (months) but improved. Unfortunately it's always a threat with him and although it was his neck/spine, he would walk gingerly and limp off an on on his left front leg.
Continued good thoughts for you.

We had a look at his paw and nothing really stands out other than his fourth toe looks swollen once again
Sending lab board MOJO for Cooper that this problem can be resolved quickly and easily.
Did you check for bad toenail, cut in the webbing, sore toe, weed seed imbedded in the webbing, is it sore in the wrist, and check the dew claw. Hoping it is simple to find.
