So sorry about poor Asher. Hope he's up and back to baseline soon.

Could be just the weather. Cookie has arthritis in his elbow and he reacts to weather changes (usually bad on cold or humid days). I wrap a warm towel around his elbow and it helps.
Fingers crossed.

Thanks all. I have to admit I'm a bit nervous.
His left elbow is very swollen tonight. Gave out a good pop too so I'm not sure what that was. Going to try some frozen peas now.
Sending good thoughts for Asher and you. Hope it's just a minor setback

I presume the trip to Akron yesterday was a doctor visit. Any update? (I hope something encouraging.)

I was going to post last night but I was feeling blah!
So....
He is swollen in both elbows. Limping more on his right than his left during our visit. His surgeon got called into emergency surgery so he was not able to examine Asher. He only "watched him walk through the surgery window". I was told it was arthritis. I countered that with the fact that after 11 weeks of absolutely no limp he wakes up one morning limping. How is that arthritis? Anyway. Dr. did not want to do x-rays at this point. He wants me to resume normal activity (restricted stairs). Asher is a 6/9 (I think 9 is the top numbers) on the weight scale and they want him at a 4. They said if I could, up the hydrotherapy to twice a week (I will do that). Told me to keep massaging and stretching his legs. That's not a problem since he loves that. With the normal activity, they told me if Asher raises a leg or anything I need to call them immediately. Otherwise, I go back in six weeks. She said options for the continued limping would be stem cell injections or hyaluronic injections. Back on rimadyl twice a day now. I just don't get how arthritis could move in that quick with nothing leading up to it. 11 weeks of of success challenged by one night of ???? ?
So, appointment made for six weeks. Also, they want me to put him on Omega pills...those gel caps. I'll pick some up today.
Thanks for all the good thoughts. I'm going to do all I can to get this boy on track!

Aw gee, some how I missed this when you first posted it but here it is three days later and worse. I'm sorry. Rest is the enemy of arthritis, inactivity stiffens them up. Oban has a very bad elbow and we are to walk, slowly and regularlly. The one year old we walk with also has a limp and is instructed to keep walking, not stop, but go slowly and gently. The second elbow all of a sudden blowing up over one night does sound strange. Was Asher Xrayed?

Oh, phooey.
The arthritis "overnight" could be just that previously it wasn't aggravated to the point where it would make itself known...and now it has. It's not always a gradual onset. I'm really sorry to hear this...he's so young.

Wow that is crazy and I am so sorry you going through this. I am wondering if you have considered seeing a holistic vet. They might be able to figure out some very helpful anti inflammatory creams or rubs or treatment. Is he getting laser treatment? I really hope this baby does not have arthritis already.
