They told me to push through the limping in hopes of stretching out the scarred cartilage from the surgery. They advised if he lifted the leg at anytime, that's when I needed to cease activity and call them immediately. It was so difficult watching him this morning. I wanted to stop and just carry him!

I know that everyone has their own theories, vets and owners alike, but from what I've learned from 12 years of dog ownership, when a dog shows signs of pain, he really is in pain! The vets should do x-rays first and then make assumptions it would be good to stretch out the scarred cartilage!!! His elbow is swollen and inflamed, it must hurt like hell! I know you mentioned you are going to take him for x-rays by the end of August, but honestly, if he were my dog, I'd find a vet who would do it immediately.

For the record, I found the x-rays of Cookie's elbow. I don't think they can get worse than that. Yet, he is still a happy active senior. I can't stress enough how important it is for you to get x-rays done on your boy to really see what's going on and go from there. Anything else is just assumptions, and don't help.

I agree. I've already planned calling them today. I did not enjoy watching him limp on the walk this morning. At all.

Well, just hung up with the tech. They want me to rest Asher again thinking the walk was too much for him and get back to them in a week. It was a 12 minute walk and they saw how he was limping and told me to walk him for 15 minutes a day. I went off on the tech. Of course I apologized to her and she understood. I told her I was on vacation the week of August 6 and I want an appointment for x-rays. She said she would get back with the doctor and call me back. He wasn't limping this bad pre surgery.

Oh, how frustrating! By vacation, do you mean the OBX?

I am very frustrated. They are not listening to me.

Nope, stay cation. I plan to spend the week with the boys. I'm also fostering a 12 yr old kitty and I'm going to try and introduce her yo my gang. Starting with one of course. I have 3 of my own and another foster. I wasn't expecting to foster two but she was going to be surrendered.

    Obx for Thanksgiving....

Appointment for 8/8 1045- evaluation by the surgeon and x-rays. Until then, we will do the rehab and lots of massage and stretching at home.
