    Mojo for Asher

My boy came up limping two weeks ago. Called the surgeon immediately and I was instructed to strict crate rest. He has a mild limp now but there is still some swelling. It looks swollen to me. Feels hot. I take him to Akron Friday at 1500. When the limp presented, he was still on leashed breaks in the back with some more freedom (retractable). Walks were limited to 15 minutes and due to the heat, we had not walked 4 or so days leading up to the limp. Still sleeping down on the mattress so no stairs. I have no idea what is wrong. His crate is huge but he does sleep on his back all stretched out? Maybe he caught it in the bars? Or maybe it's how the cartilage healed? Makes my heart hurt. Poor baby. For 10 weeks we did so well. I thought we made it...

Oh no...I sure hope it turns out to be a minor hiccup in his healing. The heat at this point sounds odd...were you instructed to use ice packs on him for inflammation?

    Thanks everyone.

They said I could try the ice pack but if he reacted negatively not to push it. I massage him twice a day. I stretch his front legs also...he seems to really enjoy the stretch and will pull against my pull. Loves the massaging. From what the vet tech said yesterday, the surgeon is very surprised he's limping based on his last exam. I know it is not slowing him down so it really bums me out to have to continue to hold him back. My fingers are crossed it's something that will go away without another surgery. I haven't even googled the possibilities ...just going to wait for the surgeon's input.

MOJO and good thoughts sent for Asher and you. Maybe since you did not walk for the 4 days leading up to the limp, it might be a pulled muscle, hope that is all it is.

Stay away from Dr. Google! You'll drive yourself bananas finding the most dire outcomes. Fingers and paws crossed that this is just a minor hiccup on the road to a full recovery.
