Poor Little Mr. Oban, SUCH a GOOD BOY

We Vetted last week for a noticeably worse sore leg that did not respond to rest. It's his wonky elbow that we know is only going to worsen but such a dramatic change in one day we think was from a bump or something that we didn't see happen. So Oban got cold laser and acupuncture and got a little poke behind the ear from a misguided needle and it made him yelp.

He also got treatment for a hot spot under his left ear and the Vet used clippers there to remove hair so she could see what was going on. Oban didn't like that either but I was so proud of him. There the Vet sits, her face right beside his head, his head full of teeth, while she does things that frighten, worry and even hurt him a wee bit and he lets her and she has perfect faith he won't struggle or bite. Yes, this is typical of Labs and many other dogs in her practice, but not all and she's told me treatment of some of her patients is tricky because of the handling she must do and some dogs don't trust their owner, let alone her.

I'm to put warm compresses of black tea with a bit of aloe on his hot spot for a week and it seems better already. There is also some ear infection. Coincidence or related we really can't be sure. The leg seems better but worsens as each day goes on. We will stop walking with the two rambunctious one year old dogs but have been walking with them for months now and don't think they and their play and bumping into each other is the cause. But at this point avoiding them seems like a good idea. Heck, sometimes it was Oban who initiated the play.

This can't be the same pooch who's been called "dirty, rotten, stinkin' dog" so many times. Not possible.

Hope everything feels better real soon.

He sounds so much like Charlie. Vets can pretty much do whatever and he takes it all in stride. I hope Oban feels better soon. Charlie also has an on and off limp on his left front leg. He's getting adequan injections and I didn't see the limp for over a year. I went away for 4 days to see my daughter and hubby was in charge. Guess whose limp came back. Hmmm. Anyway good thoughts for sweet Oban.

I'm sorry to hear he's having some issues and he does sound like such a good boy. Does the laser help him?

Thanks folks. Yes, he'd like to be dirty, rotten and stinkin' but I'm not letting him, not right now.

@Smartrock, yes the laser helps. I will see a difference right away. This Vet is very pleased with how cold laser is helping some of her patients with urninary incontinence, male and female patients. It's quite remarkable. The acupuncture targets some of his gut issues as well as his leg.
