    Losing fur

Auggy doggy is 14 now. He's doing well except for arthritis. After the last vet visit, I started noticing his rear upper thigh was thinning a bit. I used some of the Gen One spray we have been using for years, and then some triple antibiotic ointment, but to little effect. He is pretty mellow and doesn't lay anywhere, except our back yard, and front yard, and in the house
    Anybody seen this before?.

When you say "rear upper thigh", do you mean the rear part of his upper thigh....where it's impacted by sitting? Or do you just mean the upper region of his thigh (rear leg)?

If the latter, I'd suspect that his thyroid might be involved (especially at his age). (If the former, watch how he sits and see if it's rubbing.)

Bloodwork might give you a good clue.

I thought I had posted pictures, guess not. He's had lots of recent blood work because of a slightly injured paw and other minor issues. All good

I guess it could be from what you've put on him, but that picture looks to me like he's chewing on his thigh and tail. If so, I'd suspect spine/hip pain that he's trying to make feel better.

Sunnie's back issues affect both her hips and her tail...and sometimes her fur will show me that she's been working on herself (not enough to thin hair).

I agree it looks like he has been chewing, maybe creating a hot spot. Would suggest taking him to the vet for treatment of the area and pain meds or a change in meds if needed for Auggy's arthritis. Sending good healing thoughts your way.
