also I always thought the medical community recommends heat and cold treatments. I have heard some human docs say heat is bad and ice is better if only doing 1.
Glad the appt got moved up. Mojo for effective and conservative treatment for your boy.

Well, not good news. Not good news at all.
Surgeon did a CT scan.
Left: Showing arthritis and a bone spur Not horrible, joint looks good.
Right: A complete mess. Bone spurs, bone cysts, some deformity, arthritis.
Surgeon is going to present Ashers case to the other surgeons at OSU for input. I guess they meet weekly to review cases. She is also going to send the CT scan to the surgeon in Akron and call him for input. She discussed going back in via arthroscopic to remove the cysts and smoothing it out again (she really didn't favor this as she doesn't feel it would offer long-term relief), complete joint replacement, or osteotomy. We did adequan shot today. I have a months supply. In addition, she gave me gabapentin. She did say that based on how the joint is on the right, she does not feel Asher is feeling discomfort from the movement of the joint. It's everything going on around the joint. I'm to call in her in two weeks to let her know how he is responding to the adequan and gabapentin. She will call me once she has the opportunity to discuss his case with others.
So very upsetting.
Ugh I’m so sorry to hear. If you are on Facebook there are a couple ED groups. One is public and one is private. There is a lot of good info there..many people have been through multiple surgeries etc. good luck. I really hope he responds well to the gabapentin and you can keep him comfy.

I am so sorry to read this. I was hoping for better news. I hope the shot and meds help him for now.
It sounds like the Vet is doing everything they can to find the right solution for Asher he is so young.
Gentle hugs and major mojo

NOT the good news we were hoping for.The adequan and gabapentin are good meds and maybe they will do the trick for healing Asher and keeping him comfortable.
Sending lab board MOJO for Asher and gentle but firm hugs for you.

Ugh! So sorry to hear this update, and especially since he is still so young. Hopefully you can get him on a regimen that keeps him as pain free as possible.

Thanks all. I wanted to just start bawling when she was going over the right elbow. I felt sick right in my gut. I think when she told me that she believed the pain was from the arthritis and not the joint when he walked gave me some relief. She said the congruence of the joint looked good. It's amazing how fast it comes on and just how much arthritis can damage a joint.
