Just a thought, but what if you spread his food over 3 meals and then gave him a little before bedtime as well?
Hope he feels better soon!
You would think 2 evenly spaced normal sized meals wouldn't cause empty tummy. If the food is digesting too quickly then I guess this would explain it. What about a larger dinner?

Thank you everyone I will let you know if we are puke free tomorrow. Per the vet we will be feeding a 1/2 cup bedtime snack as well. The vet didnt seem super concerned. We are in quite the heat wave, so I am guessing he is just burning more calories than usual. If we still arent puke free tomorrow, I will call again and discuss a food change, or an office visit.

Puzzling. Was thinking empty tummy syndrome also. Hopefully a little larger snack will solve the problem.
Do you have AC? We had a dog in the past that would get sick early in the morning if he got too hot/uncomfortable overnight. Maybe try a fan or a cool mat in his crate?
poor Bacon- hope he is better tomorrow
Hoping to hear "no bile" this morning. Fingers crossed!

I had the same problem.with Maxx that began a little after a year old. He gets a good snack before bed, usually some kibble, green beans and cottage cheese. The puking stopped by the 2nd day of a bed time snack. Hopefully Bacon just had an empty tummy and it is nothing serious! Sending good thoughts your way!

Glad we had a good day today and let's hope it continues!!!
I had this issue with Sophie in her first summer. I had to start feeding her at 830pm and 7am to get it balanced out. I think as long as everything else is normal with the dog, it's just a matter of finding what works!!
