I'm sorry Honey's not doing well. I have no experience with this but wanted to send good thoughts that you'll be able to get her stabilized and comfortable...and able to enjoy much more quality time with you.
My 10 year old lab was not acting right so I took her to vet who ran X-rays and blood work. Honey was diagnosed with arthritis and slightly elevated liver enzymes (around 287). She was put on Quellin 100 mg. for arthritis. We probably gave her 10 total because 30 days later she vomited twice. Took her back to vet and enzymes were around 587. Took her to UGA vet hospital where she spent 2 nights. Liver biopsy (needle), ultra sound, and other diagnostic tests performed. She was diagnosed with necrotizing hepatitis. She is taking Denamarin 425 mg. (2 pills) per day, 300 milligrams of Ursodiol once a day, and 25 milligrams of prednisone once a day. On 12/7, her values were: total protein (7.2 g/dL), globulin (3.5 g/dL), ALP (628 U/L), ALT (238 U/L). The vet was pleased that her ALT had come down and was hopeful. She was put on Hill’s canned salmon food for sensitive stomach upon discharge. I took her back 2 weeks later for recheck. Her values were: globulin (3.2 g/d), ALP (1600 U/L), ALT (361 U/L), GGT (14 U/L), and normal total bilirubin (0.20 mg/dL). The vet said he could increase prednisone or try Cyclosporine ( 200 mg. once daily). I gave her 1 cyclosporine, and she vomited the next morning. I read on line that vomiting and diarrhea were side effects and that you should not give to dog with liver disease. I am calling the vet as soon as someone is back in office to discuss. My concern is that cyclosporine is negatively affecting her liver and I am afraid to give her more. I would appreciate all advice for those on this site. I want to do all I can for my girl. Thank you.

I am really sorry, looks like the numbers are going up very fast. I'd stop all the arthritis medications, they are notorious for raising liver levels. Also the prednisone which is a corticosteroid may be causing these values. I googled Quellin which I thought was for liver support and I was shocked to see it is actually a NSAID. Your dog is not getting anything to support the liver, your vet is actually giving medications to destroy it.

She is not on Quellin. She is on Denamarin and Ursodiol for liver support and prednisone for inflammation of her liver. The vet wanted to put her on Atopica as an additional anti-inflammatory med, but I am afraid of the side effects. Thank you all for your prayers.
