    tough toy suggestions

We have foster dog named Paisley. She is about 2 years old and has a partial ACL tear. The vet wants her to be on kennel rest for 4-6 weeks to see if it will heal (about 10-30% chance.) If it doesn’t heal she will then need surgery.

Being in the crate all day long makes her bored and very destructive. We give her treat filled Kongs which don’t last long. Most of the toys she quickly destroys.

Do you have any suggestions of good strong toys that will keep her busy? She weighs around 50 pounds and is a lab mix.

    Thank you

    Jerry

Put her entire meal in a series of kongs, topped with wet food, maybe even canned pumpkin, then frozen. The giant nylabones seem to work well for my guys.

My dogs love to chew antlers. They will also chew Nylabones. These are the only things my dogs can't destroy in about 30 seconds.

Cow hooves? I read that they take ages to eat but dogs love them? I personally haven't given them yet but just a suggestion!
Hope she is feeling better soon

We use hooves, it does take a while but they do smell like a barnyard. We also use antlers and horns.

Not sure tbh, The place I buy all my dogs treats sells them and people posted on the facebook page saying their dogs loved them!

Great advice above. We have a few of West Paw's toys, quite durable and a good alternative to Kongs.

Thank you everyone, I will check these out.

We gave her a hoof and she broke it into pieces in less than a minute. The Kongs are holding up so far.
