    Update on Trudy's UTI

Sorry this took a few days, I've been swamped at work.
So as I mentioned in an earlier thread, my 6-month-old lab had a UTI, treated with antibiotics, and then tested clear in a follow up urine test. A day after that test, she started urinating very frequently and licking herself frequently , as though the UTI had returned.
I was prepared to take her to the vet on Sunday. But she suddenly started peeing far less frequently, so I decided to watch her for 24 hours. Within that time frame, she seemed to return to normal urination.
I'm not sure what is at play here. It may be that I've been giving her two cranberry caps a day, plus a vitamin C chewable and a probiotic Snocolab recommended.
I also try to wipe her, but she really doesn't like when I do that and has taken to running off and hiding under the coffee table at the sight of the baby wipe.
So, I am still wondering if I should get another urine test, but she appears to be acting normally so I've been holding off.
Anyway, that's the update and it's interesting to note the subsiding of the symptoms when I doubled the cranberry cap dose and added the vitamin C and probiotic.

    Nap time!

Sounds like the cranberry caps and vitamin C really helped the antibiotics get rid of the infection. But if it was me, I'd get the retest, just to make sure.

So glad to hear your sweetie is feeling better. Love the nap time pic. Looks like a very comfy lab.

Its most likely the cranberry. You can also get PH strips and test her urine at home. Its all in my blog about proper collection, etc. I know I recommend wiping her vulva but I have never had the need to do that when using cranberry caps. So, since she is shying away from you I would stop the wiping. Although it is not a bad idea to get her used to your inspecting and touching her on any area of her body, including her vulva.

If you test urine PH at home and she is elevated then I would take another sample to the vet. Scroll way down in comments on my blog to see links to buying strips.

    Hoping she stays UTI free.

Good update, thanks for posting. First thing that popped into my mind was I wonder if she had a small stone or crystals that she completely evacuated. I've had my fair share of stones and that is very similar to how it worked.

Sounds like the cranberry caps and supplements are working. So happy for both of you.
