I've never dealt with that in a dog of any age. What does your vet have to say?
Does anyone have any experience of these in a younger dog? The only dog I have had them in before didn't start until she was 11, and I felt that was more normal, she went on happily for another two years after that.
But my seven and a half year old has just had one, (in perfect health - just out of the blue) and to me that seems very, very young. But, like I said I have limited experience of them in younger dogs.

I'd talk to the vet. Probably do a CT scan.

No experience. Sending good thoughts for your pup.
I have no experience with this...but I'm so sorry to hear your young dog went through it.
Hopefully, your Vet can give you some answers as to why this happened?
Please keep us posted and good thoughts and prayers for your girl.
No experience but wanted to send mojo and good thoughts.

My sisters lab had one when he was 6 or 7. He had walking problems after. This was a long time ago. He was one of the first dog to ever use the underwater treadmills as they were just coming out. So a lot of his treatments and so on are old and I am sure the tech has advanced. My sister had to make some changes as she had all hardwood floors, she needed large area rugs so he could be stable and so on. All in all though he went on to live a pretty happy life for several more years. Then he had another stroke about 9-10 years old and he didn't recover from that.
You didn't describe how it was concluded it was a TIA. Were there symptoms that lingered for more than 24 hours? (In people, that means stroke, not transient ischemic attack). If there was a passing neurologic episode of some sort, it would seem to me your list of "rule-outs" includes TIA or seizure.

I think it can be diagnosed through blood work?
Sorry to read that your 7.5 yo had a TIA .
When Opal had her stroke last year May, at almost 13 years old, the ER-vet and Opal's vet said that TIAs/strokes can happen at any age, even in very young dogs.
What tests and examinations has your dog had to make this diagnosis?
