Knuckling doesn't necessarily mean DM, it could be sciatic nerve damage for example. The sciatic nerve starts from the spine on goes all the way down to the foot. While nerves can repair themselves, it really depends on the extent of the damage to the nerve. Cookie has had nerve damage after his hip surgery, and he was knuckling (without returning the paw to normal position). Physical therapy helped a lot. He is still dragging that leg, but the knuckling is extremely rare.

14 yo Mata is doing a bit of the knuckling thing now too. Cold laser has helped and just switched her to a new NSAID (Galliprant) which is easier on liver etc.

Oh dear. I have no idea. I was going to ask if you could video times and places where the hind leg kicks out, to show the Vet. I see you have been back to Vet a second time but maybe it would still help? I bet she didn't do that at the Vet's.

You are right she didn't do it at the vet office. I think that is a good idea to video what is going on when she kicks out and send to the vet.
I made a video a couple years ago when her head would shake. when her doctor seen the video she said it was more the she expected when I just told her Sarah's head would shake.
