Poor baby! That's how Katie's UTI showed up, bam, blood in the urine and a lot. Scared me. Antibiotics and all cleared up.

    Sending healing mojo and prayers.

It's scary. Fran's UTI's announced themselves that way. She was always good with the antibiotics though. All good thoughts.

I'll tell ya - that scared me seeing those drops of blood. I got up last night in the middle of the night to let him out. I had a UTI a few months ago (first in my life - from Keto diet I think) and I remember the awful feeling of the need to go. I figure he's feeling the same. Got up this morning, Samson down first, then Asher. I step down to Asher going full stream smack in the middle of the living room. He's piddling everywhere too. Thankfully I have the enzyme stuff. I'll rent a cleaner once he's better. Keep sending good mojo! Hoping these meds kick in soon.

On a somber note, I spoke to my breeder yesterday (I always keep her in the loop - she wants to be in the loop). Asher's mamma was diagnosed with lymphoma yesterday. Perfectly healthy up to a few days ago. She's 5. Going through chemo right now. Poor girl.

    Thanks.

For those that have had experience, how long before meds help? He is still peeing blood and really straining. I actually think his deep throat growl is more a sigh when I hug on him because he the soft look and ears...and licks my face. I hope these meds kick in soon.

There's a med that is used in humans, and has some OTC variants- pyridium or AZO, to relieve UTI pain but apparently the main ingredient can be toxic in dogs, (I looked it up) so there goes that thought. Also, the things I read suggested that after 2 days, the antibiotics alone should be working and humans should stop the AZO anyway. You'd think they could find something that would make them more comfortable until the antibiotics get to work but apparently not. I hope it goes away quickly.

Aw, poor Asher. I know when I’ve had an UTI, I’ve been given AZO to help until the antibiotics kick in, so I guess it takes a few days. Hope he feels better soon!

This morning was Ashers 3rd does of the Zeniquin. The start of his pee is good...then toward the end it turns pink and then darker. She said 2-3 doses but boy, this really concerns me. Asher's doctor is back today and I have emailed him. If I don't hear from him by 2pm, I will call. He dribbled on the bathroom floor and it was a yellow color.

    Asher is energetic, playful, eating...

Ginger was diagnosed with possible bladder cancer by a specialist - the vet doesnt' want to go in for a biopsy because of her age and might make things worse so she has a lot of uti's she is usually going in every 3 months or so for meds.
When Ginger has a uti she is usually on clavamox and you can see the changes within a couple of doses. We have Ginger on cranberry capsules to help her now.

I hope Asher is feeling better soon.
