I wrote a blog post about our experience and managing canine arthritis. I'm putting the link here in hopes it may help other owners going through the same issues and are struggling to give their dogs the quality of life they deserve.

Reading your blog now...about half-way through, I guess (Diet)….will return later in the day.
I have to laugh. I'm honestly reading it most to read more about Cookie (and see pictures), and secondly, to pick up pointers that might help with Sunnie and Danny. I'm enjoying it on both counts and look forward to having the time to sit and read the rest (leaving the tab open).
Thank you for creating this...Cookie's adventures will definitely be helping others!

I just read your blog. Wow what a great piece - thank you for that. Niner has to go on a diet and his elbow joints are inflamed. He has arthritis. We were just at the orthopedic surgeon which you probably read about in my Galliprant thread. Thanks for mentioning to go easy on the fetching. Niner loves to chase a ball. I figured since he needs to lose weight I should let him. You made total sense about this in your blog so I will stop. I think I will also try the Ester C you mentioned. I'm not sure if the joint supplements you mentioned are available here in the US, but I will check as Niner is on Cosequin DS plus MSM and it's not doing much. I wonder if they get immune to these supplements after being on the same one for so long. Niner started Cosequin at 6 months. He is still on it and is almost 7. Anyway, thanks for a great informative blog

I hope the post I wrote will help with managing Niner's arthritis. He should definitely shed the pounds as it will help him tremendeously, also avoid high-impact activities like fetching, playing with other dogs, jumping on and off things etc. Swimming would be great for him both for weight management and building-up the muscle tone he will definitely need to support his joints. As for the supplements, I think you have more brands and products to choose from than I do, so I have no doubt you will find the ones that work best for Niner. Also, I don't think they can get immune to the supplements, they either work or they don't. Maybe try a different brand. Also, no supplement will really work while the joint is inflamed, you will need NSAIDs for a couple of days to help with that.
If you need anything else, feel free to ask!

Dasuquin Advanced contains boswellia and tumeric which are both anti-inflammatories.

Thanks Elena you have been very helpful. Sue - I've looked at Dasuquin, but not the advanced. He is almost completely on Hill's prescription Metabolic and Mobility formula. The ortho surgeon said I could stop the Cosequin. Hmmm not sure how I feel about that. Niner got switched from galliprant to previcox. I saw absolutely no relief with galliprant after 3 days so I stopped it. He went on Previcox last night and within 2 hours I could tell he felt so much better. This morning he was trying to rial up Charlie lol - that means he's feeling some relief.
