First Tick This Year. BE Nice if it Was the Last as Well

It really looked and felt like a little wart. It popped up suddenly though and turned out to be a tick just at Oban's eyebrow. VEt gave us a package of Tick Twisters at our last village and the little one worked fine, thought I have to say, a bit more fiddly that the needle nosed tweezers I've used other times. I wish I'd thought to take a photo before pulling it out and I wish I'd put a small ruler on the kleenex beside it. It's about 4 mm long. I don't know how anyone would see a tick at all on a furry animal, until it gets a bit engorged, as this one is.

And a video of it crawling along before I squished it and flushed it.

Glad you found it. I haven't seen any yet this year but, with the winter we had, I think they were probably out the entire time.

I never found any tick removal tools that I liked better than my own fingernails. I know. Ewwww. So true. But easier for me to use...and I always have them handy. (hah....handy....sorry!)

On Friday, after taking Stormy for a walk, I felt a sensation on my underarm. Yep, tick. First of the season, yuck.

It was a warm, wet winter, so we're told to prepare for more rodents, snakes, and bugs than usual. Oh joy.

You guys are lucky you made it this long. We had occasional ticks all winter on warmer days and it got bad enough in early March we had to put the Seresto collars back on. Fortunately those work well - haven't seen a tick since, and never saw any last summer while they were wearing them.

Yuck!!! Cooper had one crawling on his snout last weekend after a walk...my hubby got it off. I used tweezers to remove two ticks from Cooper last year...they seemed to work just fine. We started our tick prevention in March, when the snow was still on the ground, but the temperatures were rising.

I pulled one off Brooks' head back in December, I had taken the Seresto's off when it got cold. I swear, one warmish day, and and they're back. Seresto's 24/7/365 now.
