    Traveling when shots are due

I am not the biggest fan of over vacinating my dogs. But Molly being a service dogs needs her shots up to date. We will be traveling when her Rabies shot expires in Aug.. I am leaving in June. Should I get her 3 year shot done before I leave or do you think I an do it in another state?

I'd do it before I left so I didn't have the stress of finding someone willing to do it wherever I might be then. Even though it's called a 3 year vaccine, I don't think giving it +/- 8 weeks early is an issue although you could probably ask your vet by phone call if it would be a problem, just to ease your mind.

I am not sure about laws in the US, is there a problem if you get the shot in another state?

Yeah...ask the vet. Dan went in for bloodwork and his annual three months before his rabies vac was due and the vet didn't want to give it then.

On the other hand, when my Akita killed raccoons that tested positive for rabies, she was given a booster immediately. One of those times, she'd just had her 3-year given the month before.

I wonder if it's important to vets only when they can make extra money out of it. (Making Dan come back means another appt. to pay for.) I don't know if I'd feel this way if I went somewhere that wasn't so $$$ hungry to begin with.

There are no shots required. The CDC has doctors and professionals that know about that stuff and study it
