Talked to the doctor yesterday. We discussed how Asher always (aside for the two times last week) gets sick overnight and at the same time every single time (0300 range). I feed at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. For a while, I've held back a small amount of kibble to give to Asher as a bedtime treat in hopes of warding off the nausea. Doctor asked me to reverse that, give a small amount at 6 p.m. and then give the larger amount at bedtime. He said the time and how I describe Asher licking and smacking and swallowing hard make him believe Asher has reflux. He said he just wanted me to give it a try. So - I did. Fed Asher his larger amount of rice and eggs last night around 9 p.m. He slept like a baby all night. I did too. He didn't toss or turn all night like he typically does. Could have been the addition eggs too. I told the doctor that I thought the ground turkey upset his belly. We still plan to do some food testing. We shall see how tonight goes. Doctor mentioned prescription food -- I don't like the idea of that (such a high price tag). Anyone have any tried and true homemade food sites? So much on the web that I don't want to trust it since it's his health. I know his food has to be packed with nutrition. I'm not interested in raw...just home cooked. I'll do a quick search on this forum as well. I'm sure it has been discussed.

Im glad to hear you had a good nights sleep I hope that is the fix to his vomiting. I cook for my girls every week. Chicken with veg and brown rice. I add salmon oil into the blended veg cooled. I do give them salmon once or twice a week and. every now and then they get a beef stew with veg. I asked my vet about it and he said they look great and to keep it up. They get other supplements vitamins and joint health.

The vet that does his acupuncture is a holistic vet. I'll ask him about homemade meals. I could even do homemade 2-3 times a week just to change it up a bit. I'm just relieved he slept so good last night. Poor guy struggles every night is seems.

My Holistic/Integrative Vet is not a fan of rice. It can ferment very easily, adding to or creating upset. She prefers baked in the oven sweet potato. Just to think about, ask about.

Wouldn't it be great if the schedule change is all it took? Glad you both got a good night's sleep.

    That would be just amazing!

I have to grocery shop this afternoon. I may pick up a sweet potato or two. Vet wants me to keep him on bland til the end of the week and then transition to kibble and see how he does.

I home cook and use drharveys.com base mix. I add a protein (turkey, but you can use whatever protein you want) and cottage cheese and Greek yogurt (until he’s an adult.) The base mix is awesome and makes home cooking super easy.

Thanks for the info on Dr. Harvey's. Looks good. I'll have to do some more research. I'd really like to take a try at making his food. I did order some sardines to give him. The higher doses of the omega pills may be hurting his belly. MSU surgeon wanted me to give him 3400 mg a day. I really do need to follow the guidelines from that surgeon but I also need to be sure the pills are not hurting his belly.

Extremely happy to say that we had another successful night. I don't think I woke up once last night until 06:30! That was awesome. I've been giving him oatmeal, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese. Add in some eggs...
