    After Swimming Ear Treatment

I know some people have different things. I can't remember I believe it was Witch Hazel and something else? But what ratio?

Last year Hemi got his first ear infection, too much swimming. This also put us down about 3 weeks of no swimming. With this heat the pool has been visited every day. So what prevention steps can I take. Like I isaid ear infections are really rare with Hemi, he has only had one. However we are definitely dealing with hot and moist conditions.

Yes he stole my floaty again this year.

We just flush with ear cleaner (get it at petsmart, I think it has witch hazel in it) and clean out with cotton pads after swimming. I make sure to fill the canal then massage in the cleaner. It helped a lot during hunting season.

I use Epiotic. We've dealt with two ear infections when Cookie was younger and with regular cleaning we've managed to avoid them later on.

Hemi looks so sweet in his pool!

I've been using NaturVet Ear Wash. It has tea tree oil. I found that it was a good cleaner, but not a good dryer. So, I took out half and set it aside, then added vinegar and rubbing alcohol (equal amounts) and use a drop in each ear once a day. So far so good!

None of our current dogs are particularly prone to ear infections, but we have had dogs in the past who were. On the advice of their breeder, we cleaned with a 50-50 solution of white vinegar and water. We still use that for routine ear cleaning, but don’t necessarily do it every time they swim.

I use K9 Liquid Health Ear Cleaner that I order from Amazon. It is basically the "purple potion" people used to always talk about, and it also has colloidal silver in it. One bottle lasts two dogs a long time and is inexpensive, and I'm too lazy to mix up my own solution lol.

12+ years ago the vet said to use vinegar and water on my springer spaniel ears, he had ear infection problems, must be something to it.

I have always just used white vinegar and water mixture. I also use it myself for preventative since I'm prone to swimmers ear infections
