Dozer still isn’t feeling himself He didn’t have blood in his stool yesterday, although he passed a lot of mucous and seems to be having a hard time having a poop still.... it’s like he feels like he needs to go, but it takes several trips outside before he actually goes. He hasn’t pooped yet today...I called the Vet and my daughter took Dozer in for a check and picked up a pro-biotic for him. We are to keep him on the bland diet through the weekend. I am waiting for a call from the Vet to get an update. Fingers crossed he is feeling more like himself soon
Blood is always scarry, you can bet I would call the vet asap. Hope he feels better soon.

So sorry this is happening to Dozer. I know it happens in humans, maybe also in dogs, that sometimes the bowel takes time to "wake up" after anesthesia so he feels like he has to go but the gut is not cooperating. After hip replacement it took me over a week to be able to go. But blood is scary. Can dogs have hemorrhoids? A lot of straining could rupture one thus causing the bright red blood.

The Vet did say it could be anaesthetic related. I’m not positive they can get hemorrhoid, but I would assume they can. Nothing is visible when I look at him, but can be internal I would assume.
He finally went last evening... no blood, no mucous, but loose stools. He went three times in a matter of 5 minutes and then wanted to scoot his bum on the grass. The Vet expresses his anal glands when Dozer was in yesterday.
So far, no poop today.
Makes me wonder.. It could be worms? Maybe take a stool sample to your vet for analysis.
