    Quite the week...

Dozer was neutered June 6th, his surgery went well, came home late afternoon and slept the evening away. He has spent a lot of time sleeping, in his kennel or in the house on a leash with outside time on a leash for potty breaks. I noticed after his surgery that he seemed to be having difficulty having a poop - I would describe it as looking like he was ready to go, but wouldn't...this happened the first two or three days after surgery. He normally goes twice a day and I figured it was due to the anesthetic and surgery. His one poop on Saturday and Sunday were normal, Monday he started back going twice a day, but his evening poop had bright red blood streaks on his stool and once he finished going he would strain and then just blood would be expelled. I called the on-call Vet, who instructed me to stop the Metacam and place him on a bland diet and they would touch base with me the next day. Yesterday he again passed stool (both times) with blood, straining at the end with blood and clots passed. The Vet is unsure what is going on...but has placed him on Flagyl and to continue with the bland diet and to call if he doesb't improve. Dozer seems to a little more himself today,...hoping whatever is going on will settle quickly

Geez- was the metacam just a post procedure pain relief/anti-inflammatory thing? Poor Dozer! I hope whatever is going on "passes" without a need for further intervention!

Yes, prescribed as a post surgery anti-inflammatory/pain medication. It was prescribed for 5 days, he had four doses, given with his morning meal

Could be gastritis or maybe the antibiotics messed with his system, maybe talk to the vet about adding a probiotic?
