    Asher Coughing

So, yesterday afternoon Asher started coughing. I thought maybe he had something in his throat so I put a little yogurt in water in hope of pushing it down. Well, he coughed all day. Gag and choke and pflem gallore on occasion. Last night was awful. Kept me up all night. About 3 I decided to go down and sleep on the couch and put him in his crate. I'll have to wash all my bedding tonight due to him making a mess on them. Poor guy. And poor Samson..he freaks out each time Asher coughs. Call in to his vet. He is not around other dogs and the only place he went was the vet on Friday for therapy...1.5 hrs and then swim therapy Saturday for 35 mins. Vet tech thinks it's kennel cough. We shall see what he doctor says. He grabbed a toy this morning and while in his mouth he was clearly honking. My sweet boy.

Get some buffered vitamin C and Echinacea and give one of each per meal. It will help boost the immune system to help fight the kennel cough.

Definitely sounds like kennel cough to me. Good luck! It is extremely frustrating having to clean up all the messes and listen to poor Asher hack away. Hopefully it will clear up soon!

Sounds like kennel cough. It's definitely going around. And vet clinics are a great place to pick up something like that, so no surprise. When you take your dog to the vet for kennel cough, it's likely he'll spread it to someone. Quite the cycle!

Sounds like kennel cough.... Dozer got it first last spring, Cooper followed. Cooper required antibiotics... when I took him to the Vet, the Vet assessed him outside...as to not spread it around. My guys were given a Kennel cough Nosode.... not sure if you could ask your Vet about it

Asher's vet called. He's going to leave me antibiotics and a cough suppressant at he front desk. Free of charge. Told me if Asher refuses food or appears lethargic to call him asap because he would need him to come in. He asked me about Samson but I said he was good for now. He seems to think Samson will get it too.

On Friday....Asher was nose to nose with a little puppy from a rescue. Potential adopters were coming into the lobby to visit the puppy. May have been the culprit.

Get the puking under control now this. Poor guy.

Doesn't have to be nose to nose to get it, unfortunately. It can spread in many ways. Like a simple cold for a human. Smart of the doctor to leave you some meds and not have you come in. Nice that they were free!

I've had friends whose other dogs didn't get it, but it certainly can happen!

Poor little Asher . Our vet recommends Nin-Jiom Nin Jiom Herbal Cough Syrup - 150ml | London Drugs for chest and throat coughs or irritations. Can be given 3 to 4 times a day.

I'll send Ursa over to your house and she can show Asher how to lick it off the spoon. One of Ursa's favorite things, lol.

    Feel better soon, Asher!

When Diggity had kennel cough as a puppy, I gave him raw honey and coconut oil to soothe his cough. Also added vitamin C per Jen C’s recommendation to boost his immune system. Seemed to help a lot.
