You know your dog best. Don't try treats, try giving him something home-cooked. I am saying this because my dog was very sick, he wouldn't eat his kibble, he wouldn't eat meat but he would eat Pedigree biscuits (I don't even want to think what these are loaded with)!

If he continues to refuse food I'd take him to a vet.

When Daisy was a little over a year old she went through a picky phase. I worried and thought the food was spoiled or she was sick. After trying 2 different foods and getting her checked out I realized she was playing me.

I cut out all treats, put the food down, set a timer for 20 minutes and when that timer rang, the food went up and was put away till the next meal. Didn't take her long to get with the program. She didn't miss more than 1 or 2 meals.

A healthy lab won't go hungry.

Just a thought, did you check for ticks? bacon stopped eating and we found an engorged tick on his neck. Once it was removed he was eating like his normal self.

Good to hear Chili's eating again. If there's something I know about labs and food, it's easy: they're gluttons, but not all of them and not all the time. I remember Mel, when she was about ten, eleven months old, she refused to eat breakfast on Monday, wasn't that picky about treats though, and graciously decided to finish her Monday's breakfast on Wednesday morning. There was nothing wrong with her; she just didn't feel like eating for two days and I was getting really scared because a thing like that wouldn't have happened with Lynn. Hope Chili's successfully finished his experimental fast and is a good boy again. Fingers crossed M&M

Another thing to consider is that dogs aren't designed to eat a balanced meal everyday of their life and as kibble cannot be made to vary each day's meal then sometimes their systems get overworked. They are opportunistic feeders with scavenging method of obtaining food. Therefore they have evolved to have some days of eating a good rich meal and then some days of minimal food. However, with kibble this is not possible and it is easy to upset the balance.

The other thing I would think about is the "freshness" of the bag and whether it has undergone an accelerated rancid process. Sometimes even the way the kibble is stored by the pet stores prior to purchase is important.

Glad Chili is back to eating!!!
