    Soft bump on face

-image-jpgMaya, my last week grape eater, has a soft lump on her face that just seemed to form today since I haven't noticed it before. It isn't hard and it's about the size of a walnut. She's outside a lot and I'm wondering if it might be a bee sting or something. I also thought she was more lethargic today but she ate and went on walks fine and ran around like crazy this morning at the park. I'm being way too paranoid over my dogs lately and just need to hear I'm not crazy! How long should I let it go before seeing a vet? She has been stung or bit before by something and her gums swelled up. I don't see that happening right now. It's in her cheek area.

not hard at all, no lumpy feeling like a cyst. Don't know what else it could be but a bite? She isn't in any pain from it. She took her medication this morning. I'll try two more days and then if no improvement to the vet we go. Any suggestions what else I can try?

Could be an insect bite, but you can't really know. With lumps and bumps further tests are needed to determine what they really are.

I would give it a couple days, then see the vet. Certainly if you think it's a bug bite, try benedryl. Sam had a lump on his face recently that we had to have biopsied. When Sam's lump first appeared, I tried benedryl on him. That didn't do anything so off to the vet we went. She couldn't figure out what the lump was without sedating him and doing a needle biopsy, so decided to try benedryl again and an anti inflammatory to see if that helped. No luck with that so back in he went for sedation and the biopsy. The results came back as reactive lymphoid tissue. Our vet consulted with the pathologist and an internist about the results and they all basically came to the conclusion that Sam's love of chewing sticks caused a small splinter to imbed in his gum and the lump was his body fighting off the foreign object. We were told to watch it, and now three weeks later it's almost gone.

Edited to add: we have VPI pet insurance and it totally covered everything related to this bump.

Well it doesn't feel like a lump. Looks just to be inflamed. I have some benedryl pills the doctor gave and an anti inflammatory that I got for her last bite. I will try those and see. It's been worrying me if it was a widow because her back leg has been bothering her and she would act like it's stiff after laying down. She's never done that. But it's been 17 hours and I know if it were a widow something bad would have happened.

Edited: been almost 24 hours and she is not having much issue anymore with her leg and does not appear to be in any sort of pain.

And I'm only saying it could have been a widow cause of her leg being stiff when she gets up. But she's running on our walks and not limping or anything. Doesn't seem to bother her after she shakes it out. Her bump isn't bothering her either. She still eats normally and isn't scratching it nothing
