Hoping that it is nothing serious and resolves itself in time

Needle samples are very good. They aren't 100% definitive of a problem, but it's a first step. I was trying a new vet and was having them look at a new lipoma on Maddy. I got the song and dance about taking a biopsy and sending it out...it was a very expensive song and dance. When I asked her if she could just poke it with a needle and look at it under a microscope because that's what our previous vet did, she said yes, but she's not good at reading the cells, so they would take a sample, save it for the other vet in the practice, and get back with me. Sheeeesh...it was like $40 to take the sample and $50 to read and it was nothing. I went back to my old vet...she'll do needle pokes for free (part of the exam fee). Find a vet like that.

I agree with Jen...I'd also be quite happy to wait the 2-3 weeks to see if it disappears before I let any vet touch it. I don't like the idea of excising something completely that may disappear in its own good time.

It's so hard to do the wait and see. Think it is the best choice here.
Sending mojo and good thoughts that it resolves on its own.

Well folks here is an update regarding BooBoo's Histiocytoma. Although the vet never really committed as you see in my earlier post I am calling it a text book histio. I just took everyone's comments and suggestions, researched the net as much as anyone could and then some. I read umpteen papers and documents on the net of course, looked at so many pictures of histio I almost started seeing them in my sleep.
I can tell you BooBoo's histio acted like looked like and is now clearing, self absorbing like everything I have read and seen. From the original picture the histio got larger and attained the button look hitio's are known for. The top crusted and sometimes wept. I applied a polysporin type cream. The histio button/lump is all but gone and now is flat and 50 % smaller than it's largest state. At the rate it is healing I suspect the scab to be gone in 7-10 days.
I would like to again thank everyone for sharing their input and experiences. I am glad I decided to wait and not operate.
I would caution everyone not every lump on every dog is going to be a histio. It is up to every owner to do his or her research and talk to your vet. Vet's are human they can make a mistake but most vet's I have known really really want to do the best thing for our pets. We have to have GOOD conversations with our vets so they understand our expectations.
Thanks again
Wayne
Glad to hear this was the outcome!

Phew, great update!
You're so right about getting lumps and bumps checked. I've found the majority of them are nothing, but won't take the change on the one odd one being something evil.
