Update on Sarge. He's back from neutering and doing well He's taking pain killers with opiate, which is the combination the vet chose based on his seizure issues.
He's still intently sniffing Trudy at times but very calm otherwise.
Ok, this makes sense then given Sarge's interest. I guess I pictured her going really crazy and getting hyper during this time. She just lays around like usual.

A dog will still be fertile for a month or so after neutering so if Trudy is in heat the dogs need to be kept separate or else you will end up with an oops litter. I have had many male and female show dogs and never had what you describe unless a bitch was in heat. If you can not tell if she is in heat, ask the breeder to take a look or your vet. Glad Sarge is doing well and neutering went well.
