Spirulina works for my horse's environmental allergies.
Twice a year Gauge gets alleriges. It's normally when the weather starts changing. He gets a skin infection which looks like little scabs. Noticed it started yesterday. Normally vet puts him on cephalexin for 2 weeks and aterax for the itching benadryl doesn't help. Is there something holistic I can try that would help? His ears get hunky too but I've been cleaning them and they haven't yet it normally follows the skin infection so I figured I would try and stop it before it began.

Are you asking about herbs? There are herbs that will help, but I would recommend getting him in to see a holistic vet so he can be properly diagnosed. Brandy had the same thing, not scabs, but little dry patches all over her skin that made her itch like crazy. The herbs my holistic vet gave me cleared it right up and it has never come back. However, when Lily started itching a lot last year, I tried Brandy's herbs on her and they didn't work. When I got her in to see the vet, she told me of course they didn't work for Lily because she's too dry. I was like, ok? LOL My point is that it depends on your dog's individual underlying issues and that needs to be properly diagnosed before you can get something that will work.
You could also try Quercetin. I had Brandy on it in the spring, I didn't really notice a huge difference, but now she is itching a little more so I may put her back on it and see if it helps.
I hope you can find something that helps. Prayers.
It got worse since I left this morning and his hair is falling out like crazy. He has pyoderma gets it twice a year and it flares up quick. I'm going to bring him to work tomorrow for a medicated bath and put him on antibiotics. I was hoping to find something to prevent it but it's seasonal not food related.
