So this is exactly what happened to my dog. Well pretty similar. We dropped out boy off to get neutered. The next day we picked him up...he was pretty out of sorts. Not the first time doing this so I knew what to expect. Once we got home, we could tell he didn't feel well - he would jump up on the couch to snuggle and looking for affection - he presses himself up against us and he has a puke face. So he projectile vomited all over my girlfriend and all over the couch. Cleaned it all up, no problem. We have a steam cleaner which works wonders. After about 30 minutes he threw up again, and then he threw up again. We switched him to a bland diet in hopes that would help. I took him out to go to the bathroom. He had explosive diarrhea - he couldn't even hold it in and make it to his special spot. After examining, I saw a small "red" ball in the middle of it. It looked like fabric of some sort. IMMEDIATELY it hit me...the vet we went to definitely must have left something in the crate with him after surgery. They obviously didn't check on or notice anything. I phoned the vet right away and asked if they leave anything in the crates with the dogs - a blanket, towel, stuffed animal, anything at all...I immediately received an ominous NOOOOOO....why? Well we never spoke to that vet again, had them send his records to our new vet that a lot of our team members use. After meeting with him, we explained that he has thrown up constantly, he can't keep any food down, bland diet is not helping, his bowl movements are different, I explained what I found etc. Our pup wasn't acting lethargic or anything, he was still happy as can be, wagging his tail etc. He said let's not do anything. For a vet that usually isn't what you expect to hear...He said after everything we have done, and the symptoms, there is no point in doing anything. The dog is happy, he was acting completely normal (minus being sick)...all we should do is wait for improvement. The x-ray wouldn't show anything because it was fabric and a lot of the time, the x-ray may not show this. A couple of days later he was completely back to normal. Labs are so good at passing things.

    hope she continues to improve!

I had a foster dog cost $500 on an upset tummy! EEK! He was lethartgic, like I have NEVER seen a dog be in my life. would nto get up or stand up. A dog that LOVES humans and is always up for a greeting and a kiss would not lift his head to say hello. It was bad. I carried him outside to potty. Carried him back to his bed. He did puke.

So - Off to the vet Friday. They ddi bloodwork and felt his belly but nothing conclusive. We decide to wait a bit and see if he's better. X-ray was not conclusive but there seemed to be some gas there.

Sunday no better so off to the vet Monday morning but he was showing some minor signs of improvement. They do more bloodwork and re-check the x-ray and all is good.

After all that he bounced back on his own. He was not a chewer or eater of things. OUr best guess ist hat it was all because of the gas in the first x-ray and that he is just one REALLY big suck. But talk about a crappy bill for a rescue.

It would be so much easier and less expensive if they could just talk and tell us what was wrong!

Tux had a couple days over the summer where he was reluctant to eat, and it freaked me out to where I spent about $200 on a vet visit and full blood panel just to double check that nothing was off. Of course as soon as the bloodwork was ran, he bounced right back to his normal self.

Thanks everyone. I knew by Saturday afternoon when she started playing with her toys and pestering Chase that she was feeling better. We've transitioned back to her regular food without incident. We did put off her vaccines.

Glad she is feeling better!!! $350 is a lot of money but I was surprised it wasn't much higher. It seems like the vets around here charge that just for walking in.....yes, joking but it sure seems like it. Gibson used to chew on rocks all the time when he was younger (he's only 1.5 now), I always figured he had a belly full of them, luckily he seems to have out grown that. Hope she continues to get back to normal.
