i didnt notice you live in Australia, neuter/spade can be less than $200 in USA. I give Chili joint supplements HylaSport Canine and did professional physical therapy the 1st month after surgery. I also did not allow him any running/jumping and cut down his food a bit to lower his weight 5 pounds to 75lbs. Even now, I am still cautious and limit his ramming around to 15 min cause a few times I have seen him sort of walk with a tender foot(could be paranoia).

the second surgery price sounds like your doc cares and wants to make it right....that was the price just for the ct scan and anesthesia for me, so definately not making any money on you for second attempt.

chili had a huge flap removed and a lesion smoothed/scraped along with a bunch of bone particles floating about in the joint removed. My doc said its very easy for surgeons to miss some of the "he called them mice" in the joint but he felt confident he got them all. Doc said thos bone particles can be the size of specks of sand and when they are in the joint can be just like a pebble in your shoe for the dog. wish you the best.

doc also said if its genetic, surgery could be only temporary and those bone particles could reappear and if that was the case surgery isnt the fix and would have to use pain management/weight loss and lifestyle change.
