Thanks for the good thoughts. Cosmo was in pretty rough shape yesterday but was more alert today. He wasn't interested in breakfast but was gobbling up dinner so he got two dinners. I know I feel better when he eats, hopefully he does too.

We have had the tick borne disease bloodwork run twice. Once at the emergency vet and once at our regular vet. Both tests came back negative but said he had classic symptoms of high fever, loss of appetite, limping (at first it seemed as though it was back left and front right). Both vets said the lymes test can be negative depending on how long the dog has had it. He has been on doxycycline for over two weeks now and will be for another two weeks. He has also been on carprofen/rimadyl for the past two weeks.

The bone cancer diagnosis came after he couldn't bear weight on his back leg, couldn't go up the stairs and his back leg kept giving out. They did X-rays and found the deterioration and lisis (? I don't have my notes with me so I probably have that term wrong) on his leg bone and pelvis. Now he can put just the tiniest bit of weight on his back leg.

as far as the fever goes, I have no idea if it is related or if it is something else all together. The bloodwork results from Friday should be back tomorrow and will talk to the vet again then. She has already offered to refer us to the University vet and will more than likely go there for another opinion and a bone scan.

Well we will never know for sure what was Cosmo's ailment was. Cosmo barely ate for the past five days even on an appetite stimulant and narcotics for the pain. He barely could stand (his left leg was all twisted and his back was bowing down). We were out for dinner for an hour last night and when we came home he was laying in bloody diahrea and piles of bile with blood in it. We took him in to the emergency vet and said our goodbyes to our goofball.
