Lynn had the traditional spay and she was fine all her life, never had any spay-related issues, and in a few months we're going to do exactly the same thing with Mel. Really agree with Jen, Patty and Shelley here because just the other day I met a girl with a beautiful old yellow girl with a clean-shaven belly. We started talking I was told that Nella had her ovaries removed when she was young, was fine for a number of years, but at nine she started having problems and the vet found out that she had pyometra requiring an immediate surgery. They had to give her a full anesthesia, remove the uterus full of pus, and clean the abdominal cavity to save her. She was already fine when I met them, but it was a real narrow escape. I really do not want to take any chances with my girls, so to be on the safe side, we're going the traditional way again.
