Since it's her face I would probably do a needle biopsy first then decide whether it needs to be removed.
This is the type of anesthesia that has to be used for my Emma as she had a reaction to the other type normally used. She was fine with this anesthesia and recovered much quicker when she had surgery last year to remove a cancerous lump compared to her spay surgery at a year old.

I would aspirate it before doing a needle biopsy.

Maya has an appointment tomorrow to get it looked at. I hate that it's expensive, but if it is nothing than I would be able to leave it alone until removing it later on. Results from the cytology take 2-3 days--hoping I get news Friday! I will report back once I know.
Well the vet did aspirate it. She said she couldn't get any cells and she tried three times. She said the only thing she got out of it was fat. So she still thinks it's scar tissue. She said she doesn't think cancer since Maya is young and no cells could be found. So I'm glad that nothing serious was found but it's still unclear 100% what it is. She is scared to remove the lump because of the placement. She said it is close to nerves so unless it HAS to be removed (starts to grow) than leave it. So, more watching and being aware but I can cancel the surgery for now which is great. Poor baby was
sedated so she's very sleepy so I will be cuddling her until she is back to her normal self. Thanks for the advice and well wishes!!!

Good news about the lump. I'm actually not sure whether Sam's was a needle aspiration or a needle biopsy. I know he had to be sedated and the vet tried to look at what she got out of the lump in her office but it was inconclusive. That's when she sent it out to the lab and we got the results of reactive lymphoid tissue. Sam's lump took about 3 months to disappear. How long has Maya had her lump?

Maya has had it for about 4-5 months I believe. The vet said it could go down if it's just scar tissue but it takes time. Or it may never go down. As long as it doesn't grow she should be fine. I didn't know about a needle aspirate verse biopsy so I'm glad I now know the difference thanks to everyone here!
