Oh my. I'm glad the peroxide worked and that it wasn't a big bar! One question.... Who doesn't like chocolate? :P
Cooper was awfully quiet in the basement this afternoon, so I went to investigate and found him happily eating something in the basement. My daughter had a couple of friends over last night for a sleepover and I figured he must have gotten into something they had forgotten to pick up. I calmly walk over to him and open his mouth and saw nothing..I swiped his mouth out with my hand and got chunks of chewed up chocolate and peanuts. I know my daughter didn't have any chocolate last night as her friend doesn't like it. I wasn't sure where he got the chocolate from or how much he ate. So I called our vet who suggested giving him peroxide because we were unsure of the quantity eaten. I have never given him peroxide before and boy did it work, I felt so bad for him, he threw up the chocolate and the Mr. Big wrapper. Turns out it was just one small Halloween sized chocolate bar from what I could see. He was pretty pitiful for a bit, but has since kept down a bland supper and is going to spend his evening cuddling with us.

Lucky boy. It's a shame that they never learn their lesson, do they?

Glad the peroxide worked! It's bad enough when you know how much of what they ate but not knowing, scary.

That had to be beyond scary. Thank goodness it all worked out.

Good save on your part. How often do we ever know what they ate and how much till it's over?
I'm not sure that amount of that chocolate would have done any damage. others can chime in but i think it takes the dark chocolate and lots of it.
My vet said it would take 16 ounces of milk chocolate to cause a reaction in a dog Coopers size. The vet said that dark chocolate is definitely worse for them. He recommended the peroxide because we didn't see how chocolate he had consumed. Thankfully he is no worse for it today, but watching him throw up like that is not something we want to do again.
