    scratching scratching scratching...

so poor Lennon has been scratching like crazy. she does not have fleas, I check her daily to make sure. Seems to have something to do with her collar. I feel so bad for her, but I mean she has to wear her collar! I would never take the chance of taking her out without it on, she's too beautiful and if she ever took off I know someone would take her and I'd never get her back. Anybody had a similar experience and have any suggestions? I think she's getting a new collar for christmas to see if that helps???

My dogs never wear collars in the house, but the first thing that occurred to me if yours does is that maybe some moisture got trapped under the collar causing a skin infection? Check the skin under the collar very carefully to be sure there's no redness or oozing anywhere. If there's nothing visible, then maybe try a collar of a different material.

Is the collar nylon webbing? They are notorious for holding moisture and that can cause irritation and infection. Any webbing takes a long time to dry. Jet's would stink and I washed it regularly and dried it, in an old work sock in the laundry. I no longer leave collars on in the house and Oban's is now betathane which will not hold water.

Another solution I've found to help itching is dilute raw apple cider vinegar w/ mother 1:1 with water and spray on the area they are itching and give 2 cap fulls once a day.

I wash Macy's collars frequently because I think they irritate her skin. She is "naked" in the house.
    Is Lennon itching anywhere else?

Mine always wear collars, inside and outside. It makes me feel a little more secure too. I change collars frequently and keep them sorta loose so there is no friction/rubbing. If they swim or get wet, I immediately take those collars off.

if the itchies are all over try an oatmeal bath. Throw a cup or 2 of raw oatmeal into a blender until its a fine powder and soak her in warm water. Do not rinse, just towel dry. Zoey always gets the itches and flakes at the start of winter, one oatmeal bath and its generally gone
