    Rough paw pads

How rough is "too rough" for paw pads?

it is now winter & I've noticed that if Cash has been in the snow for awhile, he lifts the paw up that has the especially rough pads - just that one paw. I've checked for debris and haven't found anything - he doesn't lick it or lift it inside, only bothers him in snow. Wondering if its really cracked and the cold hurts him?

Is there something I can put on this pads that will help?

We used ProtectaPad by Tomlyn on our first Lab's horribly dry paws.

I used to try to put stuff on the dogs' feet. I don't bother now. Sometimes when they stand in the snow too long, their feet get cold and they don't want to step down. Most the time nothing is wrong except it's too cold.

One other thing, if he has too long of hair between his toes, you may want to trim it short. Ice balls can form and stick in the fur, and that may be what's bothering him.

Other than that, Mushers Secret, or even Bag Balm to soothe and heal.
