    Dental Cleaning What to expect?

Hello lab friends! I know we haven't been on in a while! Busy with work but I finally have a few weeks off.
I've scheduled Kain a complete dental cleaning for tomorrow. I'm not quite sure what to expect. He will be dropped off at
8:30 but what I'm wondering is how long he'll be there or what to expect after the procedure. I'm thinking I'm going to just give him chicken
and rice for a couple days. I know he might be nauseous from the anesthesia. Anyone have any experience or advice? I'm a terrible dog mom
scheduling the appointment 2 days before his birthday, (he's a Christmas baby) but I wanted to do it while I was off and could tend to him.
    Hope everyone is doing well!

I've forgotten how old Kain is, but if he's not yet a senior, he'll probably recover from it all within 24 hours. Lucy, at 12, takes 48 hours or more to be back to herself from anesthesia - she's groggy, then loopy, and disoriented, and the last time, full of gas and constipated and uncomfortable. I don't remember that ever happening to her before. I wasn't given any special instructions as to feeding, like soft food. That's probably a nice idea. Just be ready to cuddle and comfort him if he seems uncomfortable or clingy.
Oh, and the vet expected to keep her until late afternoon, but called at 10:30 or so and said, come get her, we're done and she's very distressed over just being here. That was also a first.
Good luck! Remember, he doesn't know it's his birthday LOL!

Have had several of our seniors have their teeth cleaned. They did very well. They seemed to recover from the anesthesia much faster. I did break up the kibble in the blender and add warm water for a couple of days, just thinking how my mouth felt. Also have had several go through extractions. The anesthesia much have been deeper because they were a little groggier and took a little longer to recover from it. I extended the use of canned food and broken up kibble according to now much was done. When Archie had 4 extracted with a skin flap, that was for about 2 weeks.

Thank you for the advice! He's doing well today! Yesterday he was groggy, short tempered, and whiny; probably didn't help that everyone was doting on him. We're going to stick with the soft food for a few days, and he seems okay with that
