    Reaction to advantix

I was doing a check for ticks last night and unexpectedly felt a lump on my lab's upper body. On further investigation it was an old very thick scab, like a hotspot. It looked like it had been there for some time.

It was in the same location I put the advantix drops 6 weeks ago!! I can't believe I hadn't felt it before but she has been heavily in coat the last month with loads and loads shedding and hair. It looks like a hotspot and we are in summer and have had very hot days but I actually think it's from the advantix.

I have been using preventic collars and hadn't needed to use the drops for some time. She has always hated the frontline or advantix drops and acted like they were burning her skin!!

any one else have a skin reaction to advantix?

Advantix shouldn't be applied on one spot only, but four spots along the spine. You've found only one hotspot right? If it's hot and humid where you are, it's more likely the weather is the culprit.

I use K9 Advantix II on Sam. He has never had a reaction to it. Like Berna mentioned, it should be applied to four spots along the back of the dog. This is different than Frontline which says you can apply to one spot.

Yes yes yes, I applied it in four spots along the back. It's just a weird spot to get a hotspot. A usually see hotspots only on surfaces that are in touch with the ground (like pressure areas).

I do remember that there seemed to be more than usual amount of drops in the capsule and that I actually had to squeeze more liquid to just empty the container.

Anyhow, I'll watch when I have to use it again. Surprisingly I haven't seen a tick for sometime so will just keep up with the collars which have been working well.

    Thanks!
