    Random diarrhea.......not quite sure why

So we have been home all day. 7:30am I took him out - he had a small solid poop+pee. Came back inside and gave him breakfast. Around 11ish I took him outside for a pee. I just took him outside for him to go pee+poo...he immidiately squatted and just let out two thick-ish piles of brown goo. He has had giardia once...but with the giardia he couldn't control himself. Not only that but the giardia poops were much more liquidy and more clear in colour.

He has not acted sick at all today. He's been perfectly fine. Bubbly. Happy. Same personality. He wasn't in any rush to go outside. As soon as he finished and I cleaned it up, we came back inside. He was wagging his tail playing with his toys excited for dinner time (which isn't until 5). He isn't showing any signs of being lethargic or anything like that. This never happens which is why I'm kind of at a loss. He hasn't been around any other dogs this weekend. We have just been hanging out at home.

As soon as we got upstairs I gave him 250mg tablet of Metro.

Any advice as to why? Should I still feed him his regular food at 5 ish?

I pretty well ignore it if it's just the one time. I don't fast, I don't medicate. The second really loose poop in one day I start to take note. Me, I'd just wait and see and I'd feed a normal supper.

Yeah, unless diarrhea lasts more than a couple days, or is uncontrollable, I don't worry about. If I see someone have the squirts, I'll pop them a couple slippery elm capsules, and that usually helps. I'd feed like normal.

I might have dumbed down the meal with a white starch for some of meal. Hope it does not come back.

I'd feed like normal too. One bout of loose-ish poo isn't concerned, a second one I take notice, the third I do something about.

Hope he's doing better but 1 or 2 bad poops is nothing to worry about.

It's weird as I've been dealing with the same thing for about 2 weeks with both dogs and the cat. I took poo samples from all three to the vet, all clear. The cat was the worst so he was on Metro for 5 days. Good poo's for a couple days, then runny again today. Wish I could figure it out.

I usually don't worry about it unless it goes for more that 24 hours. As long as there is no vomiting, and they are otherwise normal I figure it can't be too serious.

A one time thing, I'd not worry.

Bandit had giardia, always acted normal, no accidents in the house. A giardia poop has a horrible smell, one way to tell.

    Sending calm tummy mojo.

    Oh yeah giardia smells horrible.

SO far so good everyone. He hasn't needed to go again tonight - hopefully he makes it through the night without a sudden urge to go!!!
