Okay, had to share this photo I saw. It is all too true. Make sure you enlarge it so you can read the instructions.
The ones by me don't require it. All they require is the dog be "somewhat" well behaved. You know, like no fighting, no stealing, etc.
They're actually a good deal, particularly for those of us with back problems. Our local one is $12 and everything is provided, including multiple (and I mean many multiple) types of shampoos and conditioners if desired.
It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.

I dilute shampoo so that its 50/50 with water. I take the dog in the shower, spray him down. Pour some shampoo on the back, rub it all over. Spray the dog again so the water runs clean. Let him out of the shower and throw a towel over his back like a saddle, and then sit on the toilet while I dry the dog. He'll be half damp when I am done. And that's it for us.

The reason I love my labs: no doggy odor that requires baths! I have had labs now for 11 years ( my oldest).. and now added a new addition a little over year ago.. neither have any type of doggy odor nor do they require any type of bath maintenance in the winter except for frequent brushing (daily). In the summer months when it is warm and we are outside we sometimes play in the hose water or get a rinse if we wade into the pond. I have a bottle of doggy shampoo that I have only literally used a couple of times due to someone rolling in something gross and a time before that when I did not realize that labs require little to no bathing. I will also add that occasionally I have a guest or the front part of a guest in the shower with me and yes cue up the Psycho music as you are rinsing your face or hair not paying attention and next thing you know there is a 75lb black lab half in the shower with your licking your leg as water sprays all out the shower curtain!

Give them a shower one at a time. I get to dry them off..what fun. Our bathroom floor looks like a lab rug afterwards..
DOGS ROCK!!!
All of you know Luna is the mud queen, so she gets a hose off after her mud festivities. I usually just bathe her in the bathtub and give tons of treats or we go to a self serve dog wash (they don't require vaccines). I like Cloud Star shampoo.
