    Unhappy Lymphangiectasia? :(

Our Vet wonders if Oban might have this, lymphangiectasia

Oban's blood albumin, third test in three years, was lower again. We've done a bunch of tests and ruled out protein loss through urine or faeces, liver or kidney problems and parasites of any kind of worm or giardia. He has a flabby lower abdomen that we think is too much to be caused by his restricted exercise while he's on rehab for his sore elbow, which they don't think is his elbow at all but instead a torn or strained bicep or tricep, but that's a whole 'nother story. But we could not find excess fluid with a needle poke. His poops have been very loose yesterday and today. Yesterday he was not himself, seemed sore, gassy, seemed lethargic but did go for his walk with glee. Today he is his normal, happy self but still loose poop.

So, we are going off the raw diet I was very pleased with. Back to home cooked but not turkey this time, chicken. We will do an ultrasound tomorrow morning. We may do endoscopy depending on the ultrasound results. We are looking for a mass and if one is found the endoscopy will take a biopsy sample.

I searched the board for lymphangiectasia and nothing came up but has anyone any experience? I don't even know how to say it out loud.

I've never heard of it before. Poor Oban and poor you, you've been through a lot lately.

    Good wishes coming your way.

The article indicates that when the gut is healed, the whole dog gets better. Good luck, and feel better, Oban!

Some of the symptoms seem to match what you've described as Oban having but others do not. Have not heard of this in dogs.

    Sending good thoughts.

Yes. We were hoping he was healed post Inflammatory Bowel Disease last June and July. He sure seemed healed. Maybe, if it is the same thing, we are catching it earlier this time.

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone.

Never heard of it, but it doesn't even sound like a real word! I know it is, it's just one of those funky things.

Mojo! Heal! You guys got this! Love! Best wishes! etc.

I'm sorry to see this. I do not know anything about it except it's pronounced pretty much the way it looks- lymph-an-jec-tasia. I hate for you and Oban to be going through all this. I also hate it when my dog (or yours) has something not many people have even heard of, considering the many years of experience some on this board have. I hope you all can get a handle on this, at least he seems to be in good spirits.
