Positive thoughts and prayers to all of you. I can't imagine trying to 'prep' Oban, or Gabby, or any animal...ugh.
Ugh, although my first response was not suitable for public reading. I hate that your sweet boy is continuing to have issues.
Just curious, how much of the prep solution does a dog Oban's size need to take? Brother, if it's the stuff they give for colonoscopy prep and he's already having diarrhea, I cannot imagine that whole ordeal. I wouldn't want to have to give it to my pup, not only for his sake but for my own.
Continued hope being sent your way that Oban improves and you can find some relief for you both.
oh no! i've been thinking that Oban's been doing much better, and not having the issues anymore, since you stopped all the stuff and started over. and sounds like he was doing fantastic on the raw.
so sorry, what a rotten week for all of you! i sure hope things settle for him, and he gets back on the upswing right away!
Been thinking about Oban. Sending more prayers and hugs.
He was doing much better. In fact, on his raw food I truly think his coat looked better than it ever has in all his 7 years. And, last summer when he was recovering and eating home cooked, not fully on the raw yet, he never itched. And not on any meds, other than the Chinese medicine. I know our new Holistic Vet is feeling badly she didn't do a blood draw to check on him sooner but he looked and acted SO well.
I called the specialist internal Vet today and told them we've decided to not go ahead with the endoscopy. I didn't even buy the prep stuff. Oban seems to be on the road to recovery, today he had two perfect #2s. We can't bear to start all over. The prep stuff requires a 36 hour fast before he can even start to lick it or tube it or whatever it takes to get it down and we said no.
We will, at our regular Vet's suggestion, go ahead with the faecal implant. That needs only a fast and a bit of light sedation as he must lie still for a while so it stays in place. The internal Vet is going on vacation so it will be about three weeks before we can do that. I'm not sure how it is she could the endo on Tuesday but not the faecal and we'll be down there for rehab on Tuesday anyway but no matter, Oban will get to eat all his meals in the meantime.
Once again, thanks everyone for all the good thoughts. They're working, two perfect #2s.
