My best friend's lab had a MCT removed a few months ago. It was Grade 2. She didn't have it checked for a few months because she and her husband didn't think it was anything to be concerned about. Her dog has a few fatty lumps as well, so they didn't rush to the vet when they noticed the one that turned out to be a MCT. This is always a mistake that I can't stress enough! Any new lump/bump should be checked immediately on a dog of any age. Her dog is now fine, they got clean margins and went to an oncologist to have the cancer staged. It had not spread anywhere, but they did recommend that her dog be scanned every 6 months to make sure (her dog also had a cancerous tumor removed from her mouth several years ago, so she's at an increased risk). Prayers that Watson's second tumor is also low grade!

Surgery went well. His ligament was far worse then the vet had expected, but he said they were able to maintain some of the ligament. The tumor is out and should be on it's way for testing. Should know in 7-9 days, fingers crossed for low grade! His liver functions were a little elevated so they are pulling us off rymadil, onto a different anti-inflammatory, and starting him on a liver protectant! I can pick him up tomorrow. Glad the surgery is over, now the recovery!
